A brief description of California Area Codes is given below:

 

Area code 209 is providing telephone services in San Joaquin Valley. The regions reserved for Area code 805 and the code 209 share the geographical boundary of San Joaquin Valley. Originally, the code 209 was part of area code 916 and got split from code 916 on 14th November, 1998.

The area code is one of the original area codes assigned to the state of California. In start, it was assigned to Los Angeles and it was covering Southern California

It is North American telephone area code serving southern California. The code was covering the regions of Southern California at the time of its creation - 2nd November 1991. At present, it only covers the region of Downtown Los Angeles. The code 310 was created as a result in split of area code 213. 

The code 323 serves the regions located around downtown Los Angeles. It was created on 13th June 1998 as a result in split of area code 213.

It provides telephone services to the regions covering subdivision of Bay Area. It was created on 1st January 1959 as a result of area code 415 split. The code 408 split again on 11th July 1998 and area code 831 was allocated to Santa Cruz County, Monterey County, and San Benito County.

It was created in 1947 and is used as the telephone area code for several areas of Bay Area, California. The code split again into two new area codes on 1st March 1959. As a result, code 707 was allocated to regions of the North Bay (excluding Marin County) and code 408 was allocated to the areas of South Bay.

It was added as an overlay to area code 310 on 26th August 2006. The code 424 is the first non-mobile area code and it is serving the Southern areas of California.  

It covers majority areas of the Eastern Bay. The code 510 was assigned to few areas of Bay Area on 2nd September, 1991 ? split from area code 415.

It has been assigned to certain areas of Greater Sacramento while the remaining areas are using area code 916. The code 530 was split from area code 916 on 1st November, 1997. Majority of the areas in Sacramento are using code 530.

It was created on 14th November 1998 for giving numbering relief to area code 209.

It was created on 25th January, 1997 as a result in split of area code 310. Originally, the region covered by code 562 was part of code 213 which got split on 2nd November 1991.

It is one of the North American area codes. It was created on 4th November 1982 when the split of area code 714 happened. Half of the southern side of the San Diego is covered by the code 619.

It was created as a result in split of area code 626 on 14th June 1997. And, it is providing telephone services in Southern California.

It was created for providing numbering relief to area code 415. The code 415 was running out of available phone numbers at that time because of the ever increasing demands for telephone lines.

It was created on 13th February 1999 for giving numbering relief to the area code 805. The Code 805 was getting exhausted because of the ever increasing demands for telephone lines at that time.

The code is providing telephone services in Bay Area. It was created on 1st March 1959 when it got split from area code 415.  The code is not split yet and it still has the same boundary lines since its creation. However, the Dixon Area moved from code 916 to code 707 during split of area code 530 on 1st November, 1997.

It was created in 1951 as a result of code 213 split. It is now serving the regions located in Southern California. It was becoming densely populated with ever increasing demands for telephone lines. So, code 657 was added as an overlay to code 714 on 23rd September 2008 for accommodating increasing demands of phone connections.

It was created in 1997 for providing telephone services to southern California. After few years, it was decided to split the code 760. The area to be split was San Diego County and the new code to be assigned was 442.

It is providing telephone services in the region of central coast and remaining areas are served by area code 831. The code 805 was created on 1st January 1957 while area 831 was created on 11 July, 1998. 

It was created on 7th January 1984 was one of those newly created area codes. It is serving the counties of Los Angeles, Orange and Ventura.

It is providing telephone services to in northern areas of central coast. The Code 805 and 831 share the geographical boundaries of central coast.

It was created in 1999 when the 619 area code got split just to fulfill the demands of telephone customers.

It was created on 14th November 1992 due to split of area code 714. The code 909 is a telephone area code providing telephone services in Southern California.

The code was created in October 1947 and then split into area code 209 in 1958. The code 916 got another split on 1st November, 1997 for fulfilling the exhausted demands for telephone lines. Area code 530 was assigned to new split area. Area code 530 and code 916 both share geographical boundaries of Greater Sacramento.
