The State of Idaho is ranked as forty third state of United States which was declared on 3rd July 1890. Boise -- Capital of the State is one of the heavily populated areas located in the state of Idaho.
The only area code serving the State of Idaho is area code 208. Idaho has low population rate and so the only code 208 serves all areas located in Idaho quite efficiently.
It was predicted that the area served by the 208 area code would be reaching the exhausted state in 2003. Available phone numbers could come to an end. The prediction was raised by the Federal Communications Commission in 2001. However in 2002 the Idaho Public Utilities Commission was able to effectively postpone a split by introducing number pooling in the Boise area. Thereafter code 208 is still serving all areas located within the Idaho State.
Number pooling was introduced across the State to delay another estimated exhaustion in 2010. The scheme was introduced in 2007. Number pooling is a technique of reallocating telephony numbering space in the North American Numbering Plan. The technique particularly is implemented to the areas where there are chances for area to be exhausted in near future.
Right now there is no plan of splitting or overlaying the areas served by area code 208. The time zone followed by areas reserved by the 208 area code is Mountain Time Zone.
Area codes located with the boundary of code 208 are:
