States are assigned with unique area codes in order to provide telephone services resourcefully. You definitely have never seen two different regions of the country served by same area code. Area codes are actually used to differentiate areas.
There is huge list of area codes which have been established as a result of area splits or overlays since 1947. Many area codes are even kept reserved for future use in case if the particular area gets exhausted because of the population spurts and ever-increasing demands for telephone connections.
The State of Maryland ? United States is not an exception and has reserved two area codes reserved for future use.  The particular State has reserved total six area codes. The list of six area codes contains four area codes which are in working form and providing services for different regions of the State. And there are two area codes which are reserved for future use and are not in service yet.

In service Area Codes for Maryland:

  • Area Code 240 (created in 1997)
  • Area Code 301 (created in 1947)
  • Area Code 410 (created in 1991)
  • Area Code 443 (created in 1997)

Reserved for Future Use:

Area Code 227 (Implementation Date is not Assigned Yet)
Area Code 667 (Implementation Date is not Assigned Yet)
The code 227 is kept reserved for providing numbering relief to area code 240 in case when it gets exhausted and runs out of available phone numbers. The other code is reserved for the 443 area code.
The Code 227 is reserved for future use and it is not in service yet ? so there is no telephone number registered with a particular three-digit area code.  If you find any site claiming to have database of the phone numbers registered with area code 227 then just don?t stop there. Leave the site without wasting time ? how can a site claim to have a thing which never exists on the earth? And if the reverse telephone directory asks you to purchase registration for searching phone numbers of the 227 area code then close the link without giving second thought to your idea. The site is an illusion of truth and the time is not far when you will be the victim of the scam.
