Area Code 402

NANP (North American Numbering Plan) assigned the State of Nebraska with area code 402. The code was assigned to entire State for providing telephone services. The Code served the entire State of Nebraska until 1954 when it got a split because of the exhausted demands for telephone lines. It was the original code and was running out of available phone numbers in 1954 so it was suggested to split off the area for providing telephone services to the customers resourcefully.
