The state of New Mexico is situated in the southwestern region of America. It is populated by Native American populations for many centuries. The state has also been part of:

• The Imperial Spanish viceroyalty of New Spain
• Part of Mexico
• A U.S. territory

Standard Time Zone followed in the state is Mountain Time Zone. The only code providing telephone services in the state of New Mexico is area code 505. It is one of the original area codes created on October 1947 according to the (North American Numbering Plan). Some of the counties served by the code 505 are LUNA, MARICOPA, MCKINLEY, MORA, RIO ARRIBA, ROOSEVELT, SAN JUAN, SAN MIGUEL, SANDOVAL, APACHE, BERNALILLO, CATRON, CHAVES and CIBOLA.
It was decided to introduce a new area code for New Mexico, area code 575 for serving some of the areas of New Mexico. But it is still a plan and none of the area codes other than 505 are implemented.
