Area code represents certain region of the state or country. Area Code 419 is one of the original codes created in 1947. However an overlay area code 567 was added on 1st January 2002 because of the population spurt and increasing demands of telephone lines.
People need separate phone lines for different services such as dialup internet, fax, telephone etc because they don't like stop of any service even for a second. Every service is essential all the time and this makes them to have more than one connection for home or office.
Issuing phone numbers so fast might create situation where a particular area doesn't find anymore phone number combinations. Areas are either split or added by overlays then so that to repeat already used phone combinations but with different area code. Unique code is given to different areas for eliminating all chances of phone number repetition. If any area ends with the combinations of phone number then the area is either split or an overlay is added -- and new code is assigned to newly originated area.
