Area code 513 is one of the four original area codes assigned to Ohio State in 1947. Other three area codes for Ohio State were 216, 419 and 614. Code 513 covers areas of Southwestern Ohio - United States. Cincinnati and many of its surrounding areas use code 513 as telephone area code. It covered majority areas of Southwestern Ohio before 1996. In 1996 it split and the new area was assigned with new area code - area code 937. It has been planned to add an overlay area code 283 when the available phone numbers for area code 513 will be exhausted.
