A brief description of Oregon Area Codes is given below:

It was established in 1947 under the NANP (North American Numbering Plan).  The Code 503 served the entire State of Oregon until it was overlaid by area code 541 on 5th November 1995.

It was created as a result in split of area code 503 on 5th November 1995. The Code 541 provides telephone services to areas located outside the northwestern corner of the Oregon State of United States. Eugene is also served by the 541 area code.

It is an overlay area code of the original area code 503. The overlaid code 971 was assigned to certain parts of the Oregon State of United States; however in 2008 it became a standard overlay for the entire State
