It is serving the Philadelphia Region and is one of the original area codes created in 1947. The code covers Southeast corner of the state together with the city of Philadelphia and its northern fringes. Time Zone in use in all these areas is Eastern Time Zone.

It is providing telephone services in Philadelphia Regions of the state. The code 267 was created as an overlay to area code 215 on 1st July 1997. Now it is obligatory to dial ten digit numbers even while making local calls.

Area Code 412 is providing telephone services in Pittsburgh Region of state. The code was created in 1947 when the area code system was implemented for the first time.

Area code 445 was planned to be added as an overlay to Pennsylvanian area codes 215 and 267.

This area code is providing telephone services in Philadelphia Region of the state. This code was introduced as an overlay to area code 610 on 5th June 1999. Area Code 835 was planned to be added as an overlay to the Area Codes 484 and 610. It was proposed for Pennsylvania on a mutual demand from the Telecommunication services providers in the Pennsylvania region.

Area code 878 is providing telephone services in Pittsburgh Region of Pennsylvania. It was created on 17th August, 2001. It is an overlay area code for codes 724 and 412. After that, ten digit dialing became obligatory in the 412 and 724 areas of Western Pennsylvania.
