It was created on 1st September 2001 as a result in split of area code area code 540. The particular Code serves the Southwest corner of the State of Virginia. This area code was created to provide numbering relief to area code 540.

This area code was created on 1st June 2001 for providing numbering relief to area code 804. The South Central Region of the State of Virginia is served by the 434 area code. It is spitted in 2001 as it was running out of available phone numbers because of the exhausted demands for telephone lines. 

This area code was created on 15th July 1995 as a result in split of area code 703. It is providing telephone services in North and Central regions of the Commonwealth of Virginia. It was created for providing numbering relief to area code 703. The 540 area code got split on 1st September 2001 and introduced new area code 276 to the region.

This area code was established on 1st March 2000 for providing numbering relief to area code 703. The 571 and 703 area codes are overlay area codes and majority of the areas located at the northern side of the State are served by these overlay area codes.

This is one of the eighty six original area codes created in 1947 under NANP (North American Numbering Plan). Majority of the areas located at the northern side of Virginia are served by the code 703.  The code 703 was split off into area code 540 on 19th June, 1995.

It was created as result in split of area code 804 on 1st July 1996. The Southeast regions of the state are served by this area code. Majority of the areas located on the Hampton Roads, The Virginia Peninsula and the Eastern Shore of Virginia are served by the code 757.

It was created on 24th June 1973 for providing numbering relief to area code 757. It was actually established as a result of splitting of area code 757.
