Area Code 414 is one of the original area codes assigned to the state of Wisconsin under NANP (North American Numbering Plan). The state was allocated with two original area codes: area code 414 and 715. All areas located at the Eastern and Southern region of the state were allocated with the 414 area code.
First split of the code 414 was occurred to form area code 608. The next split was on 16th July 1997 to form area code 920- the 920 code was assigned to northern half of the state. The remaining southern region was still getting telephone services from code 414. All areas located outside the current code 414 were assigned to area code 262 in 1999.
